It's just like in the old days, just a bit further to travel. But you would hardly notice it price-wise. Return Dartford to London was approx £6.-. Return Duesseldorf-Weeze Airport to London is £26.-. Well, for those extra £20, at least I fly. And it's probably quicker too!

The polling station at the Simpelveld town hall in Limburg was closed for a while after a voter turned up with a grenade he had found.
Election day got off to an embarrassing start for Labour party leader Wouter Bos who took the wrong voting card to his local polling station in Amsterdam north. Watched by a whole posse of journalists, Bos had no choice but to return home and pick up the right document to allow him to vote.
Many people cycled to vote.
In all Amsterdam polling stations, cake was served. No news as yet about any coffee.
Dutch emerge from doldrums and vote for Borat.
The Party for the Animals could pick up several seats, polls suggest. But there's a strong and nasty contest between the Owl and the Donkey for leadership which could loose them the important ant-vote.
Now I'm bewildered.

Twee volwassen mannen, verslagen door een klein meisje van hoogstens 17. Maar da's weer een les in de trant van de 'Little Differences' scene uit Pulp Fiction; bij een Duitse McDonald's bestel je niks, daar wordt voor je besteld. Tevens is hiermee bewezen dat een Duitse McDonald's nog steeds aan Supersizen doet. En we betaalden 6.25, dus oplettende lezertjes mogen me vertellen of het echt preisgünstiger was.

Kon nog wel eens leuk worden in die Tweede Kamer als we massaal Partij voor de Dieren stemmen; Ivo de Wijs, Maarten 't Hart, Georgina Verbaan, Kees van Kooten, Martin Gaus, Jan Wolkers .... ze staan zowaar op de kandidatenlijst. Die Nederlandse verkiezingen doen me zo bijkans een beetje denken aan een bi-election bij Monty Python;

Vroeger stemde ik op D66 omdat ik voor een gekozen burgemeester was. Nadat D66 verscheidene malen in de regering heeft gezeten hebben we nog steeds geen gekozen burgemeester. Kiezersbedrog noem ik zoiets. En deze meneer Thom de Graaf doet er nog even een schepje bovenop. Glijd nu heel vrolijk zonder gêne zelf af in het pensioenplan voor gesheeste politici; het burgemeesterschap. Ik hoop echt dat D66 totaal wordt weggevaagd tijdens de komende verkiezingen.
