Visitors to this site must know I'm a self-confessed Beatles Anorak. So the news that an album with all four signatures on them was sold at auction immediately raises my interest. Now normally I do not care too much for over-priced momentoes, but this album is different. It belonged to Louise Harrison (sister of) and, after consulting my archives, I actually have a picture of this very album being singed.
An album like this awakes in me my own personal Gollum moment; my prrrrrrreciousssssss ..........

Vroegah, toen web-log nog leuk en spannend was, kreeg je nog wel eens stokjes. En ik heb er zowaar weer een gekregen. So here goes, 5 dingen die bijna niemand van mij weet. Hetgeen vrij makkelijk is, want wie kent mij nou eigenlijk echt ;) ?
1. Ik heb een jaar aan de VU in Amsterdam Rechten gestudeerd. Vreselijk druk geweest in de faculteitsvereniging aldaar (Mag-editor), maar verder dan dat niet gekomen. Dat hou ik derhalve gemakshalve van m'n CV af aangezien het overlapte met m'n laatste jaar HEAO - little white lie as they call it.
2. Ik wil graag uitbater zijn van een tent zoals Paradiso of de Fillmore. Soort van Bill Graham. Promotor enzo.
3. Ik was net als Miti een 'alto' maar te schijterig/op mezelf om ook echt bij dat groepje te horen. Wel altijd zwart/grijs gekleed.
4. Het ongeluk met de Mini gebeurde niet helemaal op de plek waar de auto uiteindelijk werd gevonden om verzekeringstechnische redenen. Met dank aan de MinTax Mini Club.
5. Spruiten zijn m'n favoriete groente. Melk mijn favoriete drank.
Voila, and there you have it. Ik geef een tikkie aan Peter, Whot en Jackles. Bananas logt niet meer echt dus dat zal niet meer lukken.

Mijn nieuwe buurman belde net even aan en liet me even de vooruitgang van de verbouwing zien. De hal was al klaar en was geschilderd in een soort van lichtblauw vollig kleurtje. In plaats dat ik nou gewoon eens sociaal leer liegen en zeg "goh, ziet er goed uit zeg". Maar nee. Ik moest weer zeggen "dat ziet er best wel vrij heftig uit zeg". Nu is dat ook een eufemisme maar ieder z'n smaak. Achteraf schaam ik me dan weer dood ... maar gelukkig kan ik biechten op m'n blog.

Ik zal heel even dit web-blog moeten sluiten. Ik moet me namelijk concentreren op m'n aanstaande rechtzaak. Jawel, ik klaag die terreur-organisatie genaamd Postcode Loterij aan. Ik ben kapot, uitgeput en uitgemergeld. Ik eet nauwelijks meer. Ik ben een wrak. Want als die loterij vier andere cijfers en twee andere letters had getrokken, was ik nu miljonair geweest (als ik een lot had gekocht). Normaal weet je niet wie er wint, maar nu ik weet dat 5256 AW heeft gewonnen slaap ik gewoonweg niet meer.

There are a lot of people I'd like to thank, but let's start with my parents who brought me in this here world. Then to the unknown blogger, who's blog I visited in 2003. I then decided that a blog is far easier to maintain than a normal website so I gave it a go. Ofcourse I'm amazed by my election by Time Magazine as Person Of The Year. I'm thrilled to bits. Me? A prize? I'm so honoured and shocked. I just don't know what to say. Thank You is what I would like to say. Thank You to all people visiting this humble little blog. I'm crying now. It's been emotional.

Het wordt nu toch wel echt genant. Ik zap nu toevallig in 'Tequila'. Of zeg maar gewoon, Trigger Happy TV. Format gewoon geript. Toen ik in 1998 uit NL vertrok dacht ik eerlijk gezegd, mede door Big Brother, dat Nederland vrij goed was qua TV en originaliteit. Ik zal wel te naief zijn geweest. Want nu ik weer in NL terug ben, zie ik lauter en alleen maar Britse TV. Al die 'celebrity in de rimboe'-series, al die 'back to the 1950-school'-type series, Schoonmaak Politie, Restauratie, die top-kok die restaurants opknapt, Dancing On Ice/Dancing with the Stars,
Koefnoen (is gewoon The Fast Show), Idols en dan nu dat 'Tequila' ... Gaaaaaap. Ondanks dat het leuk kan zijn vind ik het dan niet leuk meer. Want zo'n man/vrouw in een konijnenkostuum is allemaal al 'old hat'. I have this strange feeling of deja-vu. Of ik kijk teveel TV ...

All that Tax one pays therefore is, as expected, merely to annoy, irritate and be of general nuisance to the UK-plebs for the sole amusement of Her Majesty.

Die Engelsen, werkelijk, geweldige humor. Ik quote de BBC:

Maar vooruit, men schijnt wel onder de indruk te zijn. Ik moet zo lachen om 'futuristic' omdat men in de UK ook een aantal plaatsen heeft die men 'futuristic' noemde, zoals Milton Keynes in Engeland en Cumbernauld in Schotland. Beide staan nu hoog op de lijst van plaatsen waar men nog niet begraven wil worden. Slough staat natuurlijk bovenaan voor hen die dat willen weten.

Nog steeds ben ik prettig verbaasd hoe makkelijk het uiteindelijk allemaal ging qua woonruimte. Zeker als ik dit soort berichten lees over de schrijnende woningnood bij starters in de Randstad. Ben zelf ook een starter op de woningmarkt en mijn salaris is toereikend maar toch wel aardig wat minder dan in Engeland. Daarentegen heb ik nu wel een mooie ruime flat in't centrum voor vrij weinig. In deze buurt (Doetinchem) zijn de woningen ook al niet goedkoop meer, maar ik had gelukkig behoorlijk mazzel dat deze flats net vrijkwamen.
Natuurlijk zou ik ook liever in Amsterdam zitten maar ik weet eigenlijk nog niet eens wat beter is (of eigenlijk wel); op onderhuur-kamertjes hokken in Amsterdam zoals ik dit jaar bijna al had gedaan of lekker ruim in Doetinchem. Want ik ben geen advocaat of top-ondernemer, ik ben slechts modaal-kantoorslaaf. Met modaal-kantoorslaaf-salaris. Waar ik in Amsterdam dus nog geen garage-box voor krijg ...
