I used to laugh at people wearing clothes displaying this label. Those people who visit these "outdoor shops", full of tents and raincoats 'n stuff. Compasses and hiking boots and walking sticks. Places of no interest, to be walked by and ignored as much as possible. That is until now.
Unbelievable as it may seem, I have agreed to take part in a holiday which may involve some physical exercise. Scotland will be the place. It's been a while since I visited Scotland and in October, I will be back for two weeks. Unfortunately for me, I will be joined by a person who's sport it is to climb hills. Sort of does it for fun. Strange. Weird.
I have done my level-best to make clear to him that;
1. I'm Dutch and need oxygen above 50 metres and
2. am completely untrained.
Normally this scares off any experienced climber so I was sure it worked, but alas, not this one. He's been living in the UK for a while and has aqcuired their sense of humor. So I'm sure he takes a morbid delight in seeing me suffer in October. And there's nothing I can do about it. So here I am, shopping for Meindle's and Lowe's and Vibram's and Gor-Tex and stuff. OMG.

Ah, what the heck. Wat kan het me ook schelen ook. En wat dan nog? Nou dan. So what. Wat de mensen denken, wat kan mij het schelen. Oh zo. Ik doe dat gewoon, zoek het maar uit. Niks bijzonders verder, toch? Ik ben nou eenmaal best wel geinteresseerd in serieus toneel enzo en van dat soort dingen. Cultuur, ikke wel, ja toch? De Gravin van Parma is gewoon een hoogstaand stukje vaderlands toneel en het feit dat Carice van Houten daarin meedoet speelt he-le-maal geen rol in het feit dat ik een kaartje heb. En het feit dat ik dan ook nog rij 2, stoel 9 heb gekregen is slechts een toeval. Eigenlijk had ik helemaal achteraan willen zitten maar ja, offers moeten gemaakt worden ...
