Sometimes it's good to have friends at BBC places with a camera (in his case, several, and probably 'a wee bit' more expensive). Look what turned up at the Chelsea Flower Show. It's my car. It's mine! If I had know I would even have bought a ticket ... to a flower show. Finally something to update on my Beatles Mini Page.
Look at all those people surrounding my car not paying any notice whatsoever! Are they mad!? What's wrong with these people?
The Mini was part of a tribute garden for George Harrison at this year's show but didn't make the final grass-cut. Never mind, we still have the picture of how it might have looked.

Time flies when you're having fun. En toen was het zomaar 27 mei 2008 ... het was weer een leuk toneel-avondje. En al doende ben ik sinds vorig jaar ook alweer wat 'toneel-volwassener' geworden. Zo af en toe zijn archieven best wel grappig.

Want vroegâh had je nog gewoon grappenmakers in plaats van cabaretiers. Nu is Sjaak Bral best wel een beetje cabaretier, maar het is van de intelligente simpele variant. Of simpel intelligent. Ook wel een serieuze kant maar niet overdreven moralistische variant. Van een gewoon heel erge vrij pretentieloze leuke variant. Dat wil zeggen, als je niet politiek correct of preuts bent. Want als je dat bent dan heb je geen leuke avond; van Verdonk to Moslim, je gaat eraan. Tere zieltjes worden niet gespaard en lange tenen wordt standaard op gestaan. Het Haags komt erg goed aan in de Achterhoek; wij zien nu eenmaal graag allochtonen optreden compleet met hun grappige accentjes.
In de andere zaal van het Amphion speelde op hetzelfde moment ene Wibi Soerjadi z'n deuntjes op een Fazioli. Dan hoor ik toch liever Bral op z'n gitaar bezingen hoe je vroegâh een klepper op je fiets had.
18:37 Statistical Miracle
Not a lot of people know this.
But yesterday, during the Championsleague Final between Chelski and Manchester United, a true and wonderful miracle happened. We have a penalty shoot-out and two English teams. Statistically and historically, knowing the English track-record concerning penalty-shootouts, both teams should surely have lost.
The fact that one of them actually won is truly a wonderful fluke of miracle-statistics ...

Would you believe it, there is actually an IMM (International Mini Meeting) going on right in my backyard - that is to say, Lelystad. A mere 1 hour-and-a-bit drive. In the old days, I knew about these kind of things about 6 years in advance. Now, I have to find out by a friend's phonecall ... will I catch the Mini-bug again? Who knows. More soon.

OK. Dus ik ben vrij anti-gadget. Ondanks dat toch een TomTom-navigatiedinges aangeschaft. En dat terwijl ik toch precies weet waar m'n werk is en de auto zich daar zo ongeveer vanzelf naartoe navigeert. Terug lukt vaak ook nog. En of dat niet genoeg is heb ik ook nog aangeschaft een heuse John Cleese navigatiestem. Ik bedoel, hoe droevig is dat?
