Tja, als geboren en getogen Achterhoeker moest het er dan toch nog eens van komen. Eenmaal De Zwarte Cross bezoeken. Iets met modder, brommers en bier. En aldus geschiedde vandaag. Om het verhaal compleet te maken heb ik dan zowaar ook maar eens voor het eerst Normaal aan het werk gezien. En dat de band nog steeds een grote invloed heeft op de jeugd hier bewijst dit filmpje (let vooral op de jongen in de rolstoel).
Hoort bij de inburgering; eenmaal Normaal zien. Het festival zelf was zeker geinig en strak georganiseerd, maar helemaal mijn ding is het nu eenmaal niet. Maar voor de liefhebbers enkele sfeerimpressies ...

This morning the Dutch Ambassador in Reykjavik handed the Icelandic Government a final note, stating that, unless we heard from them by 11 o'clock that they were prepared at once to pay up, a state of war would exist between The Netherlands and Iceland. We have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received and that consequently this country is at war with Iceland. ... It is evil things that we will be fighting against—brute force, fish, bad breath, injustice, oppression and persecution—and against them we are certain that the right will prevail. And therefore we can kiss our money goodbye.

We poor Europeans are spared nothing. We've just had the Euro to get used to and now the Russians are coming up with a whole new currency: the aptly named "united future world currency" ie. "we haven't got a name for it yet". To help the poor readers of this here weblog along (sorry, not available on Twitter) I've included a link to help you make some sense of it's actual value.
Interesting detail of this new currency and an indicator of what's to come is the inscription on the new coin itself: "Unity In Diversity". I always thought this was a euphemism for "War".

The band that I am photographically involved in, The Boomchickas, has released its first CD today. The title of this CD is Rockabill Shellfish Ltd. (no relation to an Irish fish-exporting company).
