Highlights
from the rallying career of the Mini :
- Between them the 1071 S and 1275 S won the Monte
Carlo Rally three times officially and were disqualified
for a technical lighting error (however a very dubious
one) for a fourth win, in the years 1964 - 1967. In
1968, Hopkirk was third.
- the 1275 S won 23 international Rallies for the
Works between it's april 1964 Tulip-winning debut
and september 1969's assault on the Tour de France.
It was succeeded by the 1275GT Clubman, which used
much of the same mechanical know-how to finish second
on the june 1970 Scottish, Hopkirk's last Abingdon
outing. |
